Yo! Alrite, i wanted to post about exam tips before the retests actually started, but too bad i didnt have the time to actually do that. So im gonna give a really simplified version, and hope its not too late for those who are willing to heed it.

Time management: Try to find out how much time is allocated to each mark in your paper.( e.g. AM P1 80marks/120mins, so 1 mark 1.5mins.) Take no more than 4mins to be stuck on one question, meaning that your not writing anything down or not progressing at all.

Eligible handwriting: Im guilty of having an untidy, uneligible handwriting, but im trying to improve it. Try to write in a way where humans can read, but do not spend too much effort on writing in the nicest neatest handwriting.

For essays, organise the points if you are able to categorize them.

Before doing any paper, maintain a high level of confidence by doing basic questions in ur last min preparation. Do last minute recollections of points to further your confidence. (may backfire if u dun noe the basics.)

Have an early night before any paper. It keeps you clear-headed.

Take a very short break if you get distracted and hear noises, especially music. I had one experience when doing the EM P2 for prelims, and i actually heard Ju Hua Tai echoing in my mind. Really distracting. So take a very short break to clear your mind.

Yo! Quite long nv post le, but still got ppl clicking on the ads! thanks ar! alrite, today i shall post about tips to study Geography. You know the rules, dun hold me responsible if something goes really wrong coz this is wad i do, and doesnt necessarily work for you.
So here goes!

Firstly, spot the topics that you are going to study, unless you are going to study everything. Some topics cannot be isolated as questions come in mixed themes, e.g. climate and vegetation or weathering, rivers and coasts. Others, such as plate tectonics, are usually asked as a single question. Study a minimum of 4 SETS ( plate tectonics is considered one SET, climate and vegetation is another SET.)

Secondly, get the concepts in your head, especially formations of landforms. One simple way to rmb formations is to visualise. If you have enough time, do something like a comic strip on formation of a certain landform. If not, just search the web for such formations. As long as you have read the text, and know the stages of the formation, it shouldnt be much of a problem.

Thirdly, for those questions with a lot of factors, such as factors affecting rate of weathering, you shud compile a list in point form. Here's the trick. During the exams, we will be so tensed up that our phrasing for the answers are gibberish (happened to me once), so one thing you can do, is to actually rephrase the points into simpler terms, of course, making sure that it doesnt mean different things. This way, in the exams, the points will come to you naturally. The rephrasing also ensures that you really understand a certain concept rather than just memorising it.

Fourthly, diagrams are important, but dont waste your time replicating them and compiling dem. Just read MC or the textbook as they have quite well drawn diagrams.

Finally, PRACTICE, like always. Read thru the questions in TYS, and make sure the points of the answer come to you as quickly as possible. This allows your speed of recollection to increase, and thus more time for doing those evaluation and analysis questions.

Yo! finally, we have a brave hero who stands out and shares his secret to success in English.
however he seems to be really shy and wish to be known only as XS.
alrite, here are his tips:
for compre- do not rush through the questions. read the questions carefully, den zoom in to the paragraph where the answer can be found. write in full sentences and don't hesitate to write naggy answers. after answering, check if there are any loopholes in your answers and see if you are answering to the questions directly.
for summary- make sure the summary points are relevant to the wad the question is asking for. if you FEEL that something is important, just add it in. highlight these key points of your summary and try to rephrase the words and change the sentence structure as much as possible.
juz do one draft for rephrasing your points will do, unless you really got a lot of time.

Alrite, so for today, I'll be sharing tips for Maths and A Maths.
I ain't a pro in maths ar, so please don't think this is some godly advice or anithing.
Its juz how i practise maths. Tt's all. It would help if the maths pros can email us about how dey study for maths. Alrite i shall start!

Firstly, you should get all the concepts clear. By saying this, i mean that you must know how to use the concepts (e.g. differentiation and integration). These concepts are like weapons for you to fight in a war, severely important.

Next, get all the formulas in your head. You shud noe when and how to use them. Some examples are like cosine and sine rule. If possible, you should make an effort to compile all of dem into a list so that its easier to memorise. Memorise them, and it will be equivalent to learning how to use the weapons!

Next, take out all the worksheets that a related to a particular topic and sort dem all out. After which, compile all the different type of questions and make sure you know how to solve dem even if the values are changed. This method is time-consuming, so an alternative would be taking out the questions from tys. This will be training your physical abilities for the war!

Finally! Time practice! Keep doing papers after papers. Do not be lazy! This can surely train your speed up and you will be ready for the final battle! The O's......

Yo! I shall start off with the first post relating to the theme- Academics.
Today is 19/9/2006, and we are left with exactly 48 days to our 'O' Levels.
The pressure is definitely there with the teachers and principals ranting prelim results.
No offence to the principal, but its quite impossible for people to study 20 hours in ONE day. BULLSHIT. Im gonna share some tips on how to study for certain subjects, whether it will work for you or not, i cannot gurantee. And up to this point, with reference to the guidelines, those who think I can't be trusted, please leave.

Firstly, brush up your content (Topic by topic, starting from the strongest.). Due to the lack of time, the best way would be scribbling notes while you read the notes given by teachers. Take out the important keywords and concepts, and make sure you remember them. ( e.g. test for unsaturated organic compounds- bromine water- reddish brown to colourless QUICKLY.)
DON'T waste your time doing those notes with coloured pens, decorations and writing in super nice handwriting unless of course, you have too much time to spend.

Secondly, after each topic's content revision, take out your TYS and look through the questions for that topic briefly. Make sure you can answer 90% of the questions without your notes. Then from there, choose a few questions that you encounter problems with and practise on them.

Thirdly, this applies for MCQs. For those questions that you got wrongly and corrected them, write down reasons why other options are eliminated or why that particular answer was chosen. Whilst doing this, you convince yourself of misconceptions that you might have about that question.

Lastly, after completing all of the topics for a subject, start practising on papers immediately!

The above applies to Chemistry, Physics and Geography. (Maybe Biology too?)
